Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana is a skill development and self-employment initiative by the Uttar Pradesh government, launched by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in 2024, modeled after the national PM Vishwakarma scheme. It targets traditional artisans and skilled workers such as carpenters, tailors, blacksmiths, goldsmiths, potters, cobblers, barbers, basket weavers, masons, confectioners, and handicraftsmen in urban and rural areas, providing free 6-day training, toolkits, and financial assistance ranging from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 10 lakh to establish small businesses, upgrade skills, and promote self-employment. The scheme has been expanded to include 12 additional sectors to cover more craftsmen, aiming to reduce unemployment, bridge skill gaps, and boost livelihoods without caste restrictions, benefiting around 15,000 workers annually. Eligibility requires applicants to be UP residents aged 18 or above, engaged in traditional trades, and not previously benefited; applications are online via diupmsme.upsdc.gov.in, involving registration with Aadhaar, PAN, photo, and professional certificates, followed by form submission and status tracking.
